How do I register someone for a course?

In order to register someone else, you must be logged in at go.ncsu.edu/reporter (help with login). Once logged in, you will be able to register users for courses, so long as they have an active REPORTER account (help with accounts)The user is notified via email of the registration and is given additional course details. They can log into REPORTER to see, amend, or cancel the registration.

Quick Guide to Register Other Users:

  • Step 1 – Locate the course in the catalog or using a direct link you’ve obtained
  • Step 2 – Once located, add the course to your cart by selecting ‘Add to Cart’, then select ‘Proceed to Cart’ from the popup
  • Step 3 Locate the dropdown next to the Participant 1 label and change it to ‘Other’; then select the ‘Choose Participant’ button. If you are an NC State user, you will see a number of search fields. Search for and select the correct user. If you are a Guest user, you must search on an exact email.
  • Step 4 Check to agree to the policies, ‘Proceed to Order Summary’. Confirm you have selected the correct user and course  — if payment is required, indicate in the dropdown how you will pay. Then select checkout. You may be brought through screens to complete payment, after paying or if no payment is required, you will land on your order summary. The user will be notified via email that they have been registered. Then Checkout.

You may receive a direct link to register for a course via an email or by clicking within a website; if you have a direct link for registration, you can follow the steps below to register yourself and/or other users for the course.

  1. If you have been given a direct link to register, begin by selecting the link. You will be brought to the course catalog listing
  2. Select the ‘Add to Cart’ option
  3. You will be brought to your cart. If you are not logged in, select ‘Login to Change Participants’ (skip to step 5 if you are already logged in)
  4. Select the ‘Unity ID Login’ option and log in through Shibboleth
  5. You will be brought to your cart where you should see the course. There is a dropdown option to indicate how many people you are registering. If you are registering more than one person, change this dropdown to the correct number. If you are registered more than 20 people, you will have to register them after the first 20.
  6. Once you have indicated the number of participants, you will select ‘Choose Participant’ for each participants block.
  7. Clicking this will open a search window. Here you will search for one of the users you want to register. The top block is a search box and the bottom are your results.
  8. Once you have found the user, click to highlight them in red, then select the ‘Choose selected’ button. You should see the user’s name in cart.
  9. Repeat steps 6-8 for each participant you wish to register. Once all participants are in the cart, select ‘Proceed to Order Summary’ at the bottom of the page.
  10. You will brought to a cart summary. Verify all the correct users have been selected, then click ‘Checkout’ at the bottom of the page.

Once the registration completes, you will be brought to the Order Summary page where you will see confirmation of the user’s enrollment and the users will be notified via email of the registration.

If a course is published in REPORTER as public, you will be able to register for it through the Course Catalog in REPORTER. The steps below detail how to locate and register yourself or others for a course through the catalog.

  1. Begin by logging in at go.ncsu.edu/reporter
  2. Once logged in, locate the ‘Course Catalog’ link on the left side of the screen and select it
  3. You will be brought to the REPORTER course catalog, where you can search for and select a course. Enter your search terms in the top section using any of the fields, then select ‘Search’
  4. If courses meet your search terms, you will see them listed below the search fields. Find the course you wish to register a user for and select the ‘Add to Cart’ option
  5. You will be brought to your cart where you should see the course. There is a dropdown option to indicate how many people you are registering. If you are registering more than one person, change this dropdown to the correct number. If you are registered more than 20 people, you will have to register them after the first 20.
  6. Once you have indicated the number of participants, you will select ‘Choose Participant’ for each participants block.
